Motor insurers shout loudly about low premiums,
but often they’re very quiet about how they settle claims.

Below you will find an example of the Chubb Masterpiece motor policy, which is just one of the policies, which we can offer to our customers.

• Agreed Value. The vehicle value is agreed upfront a ‘pay out’ value for your car, locked in for the term of the policy. If your car is written off or stolen, you will receive 100% of this sum without any deductions.
• No penalty for ‘no blame’ and ‘no fault’ claims such as your vehicle being hit whilst parked.
• Fully comprehensive cover for all named drivers to drive vehicles not belonging to them.
• Fully comprehensive cover for non-family members to driving the insured vehicles
• Like for like courtesy car, even after a fire or theft claim
• Freedom to choose your own repairer. Use of original manufacturers’ parts & no deduction for wear & tear.
• European breakdown cover
• Unlimited audio equipment

Mr M, a company director, had the left side of his Jaguar XK8 badly damaged, the tyres slashed and the stereo stolen by vandals, whilst it was parked in a side street.
How Chubb responded

• Mr M took the car to his preferred local garage- the Jaguar dealership where he bought the vehicle.
• He opted for a hire car, similar to his own, paid for by Chubb.
• He needed new panelling and a new set of tyres. He did not have to contribute towards the wear and tear of the old, partly worn tyres.
• The full cost of his £4600 stereo was reimbursed.
• When he comes to renew his policy he will not incur a penalty, as the incident was not his fault.

How a different insurer may have responded

• He would have to use one of the garages stipulated by the insurer
• He would be offered a group A courtesy car which as he uses his vehicle for business probably would be adequate leading to him hiring a vehicle at a cost to himself of £1650.
• As the tyres are partly worn the, he would have to make a £600 contribution towards their replacement.
• His policy limits audio equipment to £500.
• At renewal he will incur a penalty increase in his premium of around £300. As they cannot recover their costs his insurers would regard this as a fault accident.

If Mr M had not been insured by Chubb, he would have been out of pocket by at least £6650.
